Heat Treatment Operator

Job Overview

The Heat Treatment Operator is responsible for executing heat treatment procedures on gas turbine components with precision and safety. This role emphasizes adherence to Lean manufacturing principles, engaging in problem-solving, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining workplace organization and safety standards to enhance overall productivity and quality.

Key Duties

• Carry out heat treatment operations following approved work instructions, process specs, and engineering directives.
• Interpret work instructions and quality documentation to ensure correct process execution.
• Accurately document process metrics and measurements.
• Operate heat treatment machinery, including furnaces, fixtures, thermocouples, and hand tools, safely and correctly.
• Inspect components pre- and post-treatment to verify they meet quality standards.
• Follow Standard Work and Standard Work Combination Sheets to maintain consistency, safety, and efficiency on the production line.
• Keep the workspace organized, clean, and safe in accordance with 5S methodology.
• Apply Lean principles actively during daily tasks and operations.
• Engage in problem-solving sessions, including root cause analyses and corrective actions, to resolve quality or process issues.
• Identify and report opportunities to improve safety, quality, cycle times, flow, and reduce waste.
• Assist in refining standard work protocols, enhance line organization, visual management, and process discipline to deepen Lean implementation.
• Collaborate with the team to boost line effectiveness, operational performance, and overall productivity.
• Work in alignment with takt time, cycle time, and standard process flows to support production targets.
• Utilize shop floor software such as ELM and SmartShop when necessary.
• Comply fully with company quality policies, safety regulations, and established procedures.

Qualifications

• Diploma, technical college qualification, or comparable practical experience required.
• Experience range from zero to three or more years in technician roles, manufacturing, heat treatment, or related industrial fields.

Preferred Expertise

• Hands-on experience with diffusion heat treatment methods.
• Familiarity with solution and aging heat treatment processes.
• Background working with gas turbine parts or similar precision aerospace or industrial components.
