Precision Machinist

Overview

Harvard Machine Ltd is seeking an experienced Precision Machinist for their facility in Cambridge, Ontario. This is a full-time onsite role requiring the candidate to work at the physical location without remote work options. The ideal candidate will have a college-level education and a minimum of 5 years of practical experience in the manufacturing sector.

Languages

English proficiency is required.

Education and Credentials

• Completion of College or CEGEP education
• Machinist Trade Certification mandatory

Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables accurately.
• Set up and adjust production machinery and tools to specifications.
• Fit and assemble machine components with close tolerances.
• Document and report any deviations from specifications and tolerances.
• Maintain inspection records and prepare inspection reports.
• Accurately verify dimensions of machined parts using precision instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
• Operate both conventional and CNC machine tools competently.
• Ensure product dimensions meet all accuracy and specification requirements.

Skills and Equipment Experience

• Proficient use of measuring instruments: micrometers, calipers, calipers, gauges, and verniers.
• Experience operating various equipment: automatic lathes, boring machines, cylindrical grinders, jig borers, jig grinders, milling machines, single-purpose production machines, surface grinders, tapping machines, universal grinders, and CNC machines.

Additional Information

• Own transportation and valid driver's license required for commuting.
• Work in environments with tight deadlines; requires strong attention to detail.
• Ability to handle weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
• Must provide own tools including steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses or goggles, and gloves.
