CNC Machinist

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team in St Marys, Ontario. This on-site role requires hands-on operation and setup of machine tools, with attention to precision and quality. The ideal candidate should have thorough knowledge of machine part dimensions and tolerances, and be capable of interpreting engineering designs and blueprints accurately.

Key Responsibilities

• Calculate precise dimensions and tolerances of machine parts.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables to guide manufacturing processes.
• Setup and fine-tune production machinery and tools for accuracy.
• Assemble components and machine parts with tight tolerances ensuring proper fit.
• Maintain, repair, and calibrate precision measuring instruments to ensure reliability.
• Record and report any discrepancies from specifications and tolerances during inspections.
• Maintain detailed inspection logs and complete official inspection reports.
• Verify part dimensions using precise tools such as micrometers and calipers.
• Operate both conventional and computer-controlled machine tools effectively.

Required Qualifications and Certifications

• Completion of secondary (high) school education.
• Machinist Trade Certification or Tool and Die Maker Trade Certification.
• Machinist Red Seal Endorsement or Tool and Die Maker Red Seal Certificate.
• Certification by a provincial or territorial association is preferred.
• 2 to less than 3 years of relevant work experience.

Technical Skills and Equipment Experience

• Familiarity with Mastercam CAD/CAM software, AutoCAD, and programming software for CNC operations.
• Hands-on experience with milling machines, universal grinders, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines.
• Knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) principles.

• Must be bondable and able to pass criminal record checks.
• Basic and confidential security clearances may be required.
• Own reliable vehicle, as public transportation is not available.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
• Must be able to stand for long periods, and combine sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday.
• Possess own tools and wear steel-toed safety boots.
• Strong personal attributes including accuracy, dependability, interpersonal skills, and effective communication (both oral and written).
• Demonstrate flexibility, initiative, teamwork, quick learning, client focus, ethical standards, and organizational skills.
