Headless CMS Solutions Architect

Role Overview

This senior, client-facing position based in the United Arab Emirates involves leading the design of modern, scalable digital content platforms using headless and composable CMS technologies. The incumbent will direct discovery workshops, translate editorial and business requirements into technical architectures, and guide clients through technology evaluations and architectural decisions.

The role includes responsibilities relating to content strategy, cloud architecture, system integration, security, and enterprise digital transformation. Platforms involved include Storyblok, Sanity, Contentful, and Strapi, with a strong focus on AWS cloud environment integrations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct client workshops, interviews, and consulting sessions to gather in-depth understanding of business, editorial, technical, security, and integration needs.
• Analyze current requirements and develop scalable, future-focused digital platform architectures.
• Evaluate and recommend headless CMS platforms suited to client-specific demands, scalability, and maintainability.
• Design content models, reusable components, taxonomies, metadata structures, and composable content architectures.
• Define editorial workflows, approval systems, role-based permissions, localization, and publishing processes.
• Design integrations between CMS and enterprise applications, APIs, and services.
• Develop architectures addressing multilingual content, accessibility, SEO, search, governance, and web standards.
• Plan CMS migration strategies from legacy systems such as Drupal, WordPress, Sitecore, and proprietary platforms.
• Plan integrations of headless CMS with AWS applications and services like S3, CloudFront, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, Cognito, IAM, Route 53, WAF, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, and EventBridge.
• Collaborate with front-end, cloud, DevOps, security, UX, and development teams to facilitate effective implementation.
• Create architecture diagrams, technical documentation, implementation roadmaps, and technology recommendation reports.
• Present architecture proposals clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders including executives, content teams, and IT departments.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and scalability challenges early in the discovery and design process.
• Challenge client requirements constructively to promote simpler, scalable, or maintainable solutions.
• Support implementation planning ensuring alignment between business goals and technical feasibility.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Extensive experience working with headless and composable digital platform CMS architectures.
• Hands-on expertise with at least two of the following platforms: Storyblok, Sanity, Contentful, or Strapi.
• Familiarity with Storyblok features including Visual Editor, components, workflows, localization, roles and permissions, Content Delivery and Management APIs.
• Experience with Sanity Studio, structured content, schemas, GROQ, Content Lake, and custom editorial integrations.
• Experience utilizing Contentful's content models, localization, environment management, workflows, and APIs.
• Experience with Strapi's Content Type Builder, components, Dynamic Zones, REST/GraphQL APIs, permissions, plugins, and deployment models.
• Prior leadership in CMS discovery engagements and solution recommendations.
• Strong AWS and cloud architecture knowledge, with an ability to collaborate with cloud and DevOps teams.
• Proficient understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL, webhooks, API integrations, structured content, and composable approaches.
• Experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript, and modern front-end frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, or Nuxt.
• Expertise in enterprise system integrations and CMS migration strategies.
• Deep knowledge of content governance, multilingual and localized content management, role-based permissions, editorial workflows, technical SEO, accessibility, and web standards.
• Ability to produce architectural diagrams, technical documentation, and technology roadmaps.
• Excellent consulting, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills; able to simplify complex technical topics for diverse audiences.
• Comfortable interacting with executives, business stakeholders, IT departments, content teams, and development professionals.
• Objective evaluation of technologies, clear communication of risks, dependencies, and architectural trade-offs.
• Experience with enterprise search, Digital Asset Management, CRM, LMS, marketing automation, or identity platforms is advantageous.
• Additional certifications or experience such as AWS Solutions Architect, CMS certifications, Next.js/React, Node.js, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, DevOps, AWS OpenSearch, digital asset management, or marketing/learning platforms is beneficial.
