Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced, motivated Head Chef to lead the kitchen team at Oaks Auckland Hotel on a full-time basis. The person in this position will be responsible for managing kitchen operations to ensure outstanding food quality, presentation, hygiene, and service standards. The role involves inspiring and supervising the culinary staff, innovating menu offerings, and maintaining operational efficiency and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor the kitchen team to maintain high standards and productivity.
- Ensure consistent preparation and cooking of meals meeting strict criteria for quality and appearance.
- Design, develop, and update menus, including seasonal and special items, aligning with guest preferences and brand guidelines.
- Control food costs, stock levels, and inventory to meet budget goals.
- Guarantee adherence to Workplace Health and Safety, HACCP standards, and hygiene regulations.
- Maintain an orderly, hygienic, and secure kitchen workspace.
- Work with management to support operational targets covering training, scheduling, and staff development.
- Regularly assess kitchen processes to find ways to enhance efficiency and quality.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience as a Head Chef or in senior kitchen roles within hotels or high-volume environments.
- In-depth knowledge of cooking methods, food preparation, and up-to-date culinary trends.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and team coordination capabilities.
- Financial acumen including expertise in food cost control and inventory management.
- Ability to thrive under pressure in fast-paced kitchen settings.
- A positive, proactive approach with a strong passion for delivering exceptional food experiences.
