Role Overview
The Head Chef position is a full-time, on-site role based at LA RIO RESTAURANT in Riyadh. The incumbent will oversee all facets of kitchen operations—ranging from menu creation, food preparation, and presentation standards to quality assurance. The role involves managing kitchen personnel, delegating daily tasks, and ensuring smooth workflow during service periods. Key daily duties include procurement and inventory management, monitoring and optimizing food costs, upholding hygiene and safety protocols, and adherence to local health regulations. Collaboration with management on seasonal offerings, specials, and events is essential, alongside mentoring and training kitchen staff to maintain exceptional culinary and service standards.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Advanced knowledge of culinary methods, menu design, and plating techniques to consistently produce high-quality dishes.
- Demonstrated experience in operating a professional kitchen, including staff leadership, scheduling, and coaching.
- Comprehensive understanding of food safety standards, sanitation principles, and HACCP regulations ensuring a hygienic and compliant kitchen environment.
- Competence in inventory control, food cost management, and operating within budgetary and purchasing parameters.
- Strong leadership and communication capabilities to work effectively with front-of-house teams and management.
- Experience in busy or upscale dining settings; previous roles as Head Chef or Sous Chef are highly desirable.
- Formal culinary training or certification is an asset; substantial hands-on experience will be taken into account.
- Flexibility to work varied hours including evenings, weekends, and public holidays in a demanding work environment.
- Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are advantageous but not essential.
