Cloud Operations Head

Position Overview

The Cloud Operations Head leads the management of extensive cloud operations, encompassing cloud infrastructure, multi-cloud platforms, and digital services, ensuring operational excellence across hybrid and multi-cloud telecom environments. This role drives transformation towards cloud-native telecom architectures with focus on availability, security, and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement cloud operations strategies that align with telecom and IT transformation initiatives such as 5G, NFV, and cloud-native technologies.
• Develop and oversee operating models for hybrid and multi-cloud landscapes.
• Ensure that cloud operations effectively support business, network, and digital service goals.
• Lead innovation and continuous improvement efforts in cloud operations.
• Manage 24/7 cloud operations across various infrastructure platforms.
• Guarantee high availability, resilience, and comprehensive disaster recovery preparedness.
• Administer incident, problem, and change management procedures.
• Maintain adherence to SLAs, SLOs, and key performance indicators.
• Standardize platform architectures and operational workflows.
• Design and execute cloud operations transformation plans and strategies.
• Evaluate and define future-state cloud operating models, including roadmaps for migration and deployment.
• Collaborate with teams to plan capacity and forecast resources to support telecom service growth.
• Optimize resource use for cost reduction while preserving reliability and performance.
• Supervise audits, risk management, and compliance activities.
• Lead strategic vendor, partner, and service provider relationships.
• Ensure cloud environments can handle heavy traffic and maintain 24/7 uptime.
• Implement proactive monitoring to prevent infrastructure failures and performance issues.
• Integrate emerging technologies to enhance cloud efficiency, scalability, and dependability.
• Uphold security best practices, regulatory compliance, and industry standards across cloud infrastructure.
• Enforce strict access control, data encryption, and network security measures to safeguard telecom data.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, security audits, and reviews regularly.
• Work closely with telecom network and systems teams to integrate cloud and telecom services seamlessly.
• Offer technical guidance and timely support on cloud matters to internal stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers to build cloud expertise within the organization.
• Participate in OPEX budgeting, total cost of ownership assessments, and cost optimization projects.
• Negotiate and monitor operational SLAs with partners and vendors to ensure service quality.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields from an accredited university.
• Over 20 years of experience in IT and telecom infrastructure operations.
• At least 10 years of leadership experience overseeing cloud, infrastructure, or platform operations teams.
• Extensive background in telecom including 5G, NFV, OSS, and BSS platforms.
• Demonstrated success managing large-scale cloud transformation and modernization initiatives.
• Strong skills in strategic planning, leadership, and execution.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities at the executive level.
• Proven capability in leading large, multi-site, multi-vendor teams.
• Comprehensive technical understanding of telecom technologies, cloud platforms, virtualization, containerization, and cloud-native architectures.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS, Azure, GCP, OpenShift, Kubernetes, or their equivalents are highly preferred.
