Role Overview

We are seeking an outstanding leader to spearhead the strategic growth of our Ground Engineering & Tunnelling (GET) division across New Zealand. This pivotal position involves shaping the future of geotechnical engineering by building on our existing success and expanding our reach through influential client partnerships and market development.

As Market Lead, you will oversee technical guidance on ongoing projects while leading efforts to secure new opportunities. Collaborating closely with existing team leaders, you will focus on client engagement and market growth, positioning AECOM as a national frontrunner in GET disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a national strategy for the GET business to drive sustainable growth and market leadership within New Zealand.
• Establish and nurture strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry organizations while acting as a recognized thought leader in the field.
• Lead high-profile pursuits and proposals, ensuring innovative, commercially viable solutions that distinguish AECOM in the marketplace.
• Monitor market trends and identify new service offerings to ensure long-term business resilience and opportunity capture.
• Collaborate locally and across the Australia-New Zealand region to integrate expertise and deliver comprehensive infrastructure solutions.
• Promote a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and quality across all GET-related projects.
• Mentor and develop a national, high-performing team through recruitment, succession planning, and professional growth initiatives.
• Create a supportive environment that encourages innovation, engagement, and the translation of ideas into impactful outcomes.

Candidate Profile

• Extensive experience leading geotechnical and tunnelling projects within consultancy environments, preferably in New Zealand.
• Established technical reputation in New Zealand's infrastructure sector, with proven success in client relationship building and major project acquisitions.
• Strong commercial insight, capable of balancing technical quality with business growth and project delivery performance.
• Collaborative leadership approach with a passion for mentoring and developing future industry professionals.
• Beneficial international experience introducing innovative design practices and insights.
• Proven ability to influence multidisciplinary teams and integrate complex infrastructure solutions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with credibility across clients, industry peers, and internal teams.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related fields; Chartered Professional Engineer status or equivalent preferred.
