Job description

Overview

Red Hat's Technology Sales division is seeking a specialist in Lightwell Solution Architecture to join their ranks. This role is pivotal in delivering expert technical sales assistance for effective Go-To-Market initiatives concerning Red Hat Lightwell. The primary mission is to eliminate barriers—organizational, technical, or competitive—that hinder the adoption of Red Hat Lightwell, positioning Red Hat as the fundamental source for customer application development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Red Hat's lead technical expert on trusted software supply chains within customer engagements, collaborating closely with Account Solution Architects and Executives to promote Red Hat Lightwell products.
  • Lead impactful technical discussions tailored to multiple audiences including developers, build engineers, leadership in application development and platform engineering, as well as security and compliance teams.
  • Clearly communicate Red Hat’s unique competitive advantages relative to other market solutions.
  • Integrate Red Hat’s software supply chain capabilities such as hardened container images, artifact signing, attestation, SBOM generation, pipeline policy enforcement, and runtime security offerings in customer engagements.
  • Validate and demonstrate solutions directly within customer build environments by configuring, building, and troubleshooting alongside client engineers.
  • Support pre- and post-sales technical activities including deep technical sessions, proof of concepts, competitive trials, hackathons, and creation of vertical-specific partner solutions.
  • Identify and build strong relationships with key customer stakeholders, advocating for Red Hat’s solutions internally within customer organizations.
  • Advise on integration with existing artifact management systems, including considerations for disconnected and secure air-gapped environments.
  • Collaborate with the Lightwell business and engineering teams to relay market intelligence, product gaps, and ecosystem feedback.
  • Engage with the wider community through public speaking, blog contributions, and customer advocacy.
  • Provide enablement and mentoring to Red Hat’s Technical Sales organization to elevate expertise in software supply chain security.

Required Skills and Experience

  • At least six years in roles spanning software engineering, build/release engineering, platform engineering, DevSecOps, or technical sales with hands-on responsibility for software managing complex dependency and upgrade challenges.
  • Proven experience actively working within customer or production build environments.
  • Operative knowledge of at least two package managers such as Maven, pip, or npm, including deep understanding of dependency resolution, transitive dependencies, lock files, and version constraints.
  • Thorough insight into enterprise build configurations, registry and repository setup, and common practices around proxying and mirroring public package registries.
  • Hands-on familiarity with enterprise artifact repositories and internal mirrors.
  • Understanding of build reproducibility, disconnected/air-gapped environments, and multi-language codebases.
  • In-depth knowledge of software supply chain security principles and tools including SLSA Level 3 requirements, SBOM formats (SPDX, CycloneDX), artifact signing with HSM backing, attestation, pipeline enforcement, and operational use of vulnerability exploitability data (VEX, CSAF).
  • Familiarity with provenance threats like typosquatting and dependency confusion.
  • Understanding of open source contribution processes and returning remediations upstream.
  • Excellent communication skills capable of delivering technical presentations and leading business value discussions with engineers and executives alike.
  • Ability to represent Red Hat’s product offerings accurately and responsibly, including current coverage and future roadmap.
  • Willingness to travel as business needs dictate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in technical sales or sales engineering within enterprise software, SaaS, or systems integration environments.
  • Proficiency in Java or Python programming ecosystems with dependency management and release responsibility.
  • Ownership or experience managing CI/CD pipelines, artifact repositories, or internal developer platforms at scale.
  • Background in DevSecOps integrating security tools and policies within delivery workflows, understanding the dynamics among security, platform, and development teams.
  • Experience in application or product security involving vulnerability management and secure development lifecycles.
  • Active contribution or sustained engagement in open source upstream projects related to packaging or release engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, OpenShift, and Ansible Automation Platform.
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations pertinent to key geographic accounts and experience with automated control enforcement for audit compliance.
