Role Overview

The Senior Software Engineer will join the Global Payments Engineering team focused on creating scalable backend payment infrastructure for cross-border solutions spanning multiple regions. This position requires close coordination with product, business, and compliance teams across markets and collaboration with global payment partners to enable international growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build payment platform capabilities supporting global expansion, including localized solutions tailored to regional regulatory and business needs such as payment methods, settlement, and compliance functionality.
• Enhance platform scalability, reliability, and engineering productivity continuously.
• Partner with regional teams and external financial institutions to deliver technical integrations and oversee project delivery across distributed teams in different time zones.
• Participate in architectural design and technical reviews to promote engineering best practices, automation, observability, and AI-driven development to improve code quality and system performance.

Candidate Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience in backend software engineering, preferably in payments, fintech, banking, or financial services domains.
• Proficient in Java and modern backend tech stacks including distributed systems, microservices, Spring Boot, MySQL, Redis, MQ, and cloud-native architectures for building scalable, highly available backend systems.
• Strong analytical skills to convert business requirements into robust, scalable solutions with high ownership and execution capability.
• Excellent English communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with global cross-functional and multicultural teams in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience with cross-border payment processes, acquiring, settlement, payouts, merchant platforms, or related fintech products.
• Integration expertise with payment gateways, banks, financial institutions, or third-party services.
• Knowledge of regional payment ecosystems, local compliance, and customization in Southeast Asia, Middle East, or other international regions.
• Experience working with or coordinating globally distributed engineering teams.
