Job description

Position Overview

The General Utility Worker plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and order within kitchen spaces, including equipment, utensils, and plateware. This role supports food preparation activities while promoting alignment with the TSFR Roadmap values such as Our Core Purpose, Vision, Mission, and Core Values.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Remove food residue from dirty dishes and load them into the dishwasher (approximately 50% of duties).
  • Hand wash or machine wash pots, pans, and trays (about 15% of duties).
  • Carry out all assigned food preparation tasks (10% of duties).
  • Collect and transport trash to the dumpster (10% of duties).
  • Clean surfaces including tables, walls, refrigeration and cooking equipment, and floors (5% of duties).
  • Clean garbage cans and trash containers (5% of duties).
  • Set up, maintain, and dismantle dishwashing equipment (5% of duties).
  • Manually move cases weighing up to 50 pounds frequently during work hours.
  • Organize plates, utensils, pans, and cases on high and low shelving.
  • Work is primarily indoors (90%) but also requires outdoor duties (10%).
  • Adapt to working in hot and humid environments and maintain composure in emergency situations to ensure safety.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret various documents including instructions, contracts, and manuals.
  • Effective communication skills for verbal and written interactions.
  • Problem-solving abilities to handle practical issues with limited standard procedures.
  • Frequent physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, and manual dexterity.
  • Exposure to wet floors, noise, temperature variations; ability to bend, stoop, lift up to 40 pounds regularly, and stand for extended periods.
  • Visual acuity to focus on close objects.
  • Teamwork skills and flexibility to work in fast-paced environments and adapt to changes.

Work Environment

Work is conducted mostly indoors with occasional travel by automobile to other locations, alone or with a coworker. The employer reserves the right to modify duties and responsibilities as business needs evolve.
