General Utility Worker

Job Overview

The General Utility role at Applebee's Neighborhood Grill + Bar involves maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in kitchen spaces, including equipment, utensils, and plateware. This position supports food preparation activities and aligns with the company's core mission and values outlined in the TSFR Roadmap.

Primary Responsibilities

• Remove food scraps and pre-rinse dishes before placing them in the dishwasher (approx. 50% of duties).
• Wash pots, pans, and trays manually or via machine (about 15% of duties).
• Perform all designated food preparation tasks (around 10% of duties).
• Dispose of trash and garbage by transporting it to dumpster areas (10% of duties).
• Clean tables, walls, refrigerators, cooking equipment, and floors in work areas (5% of duties).
• Sanitize garbage cans and trash bins (5% of duties).
• Set up, operate, maintain, and break down dishwashing machines (5% of duties).
• Lift and carry cases weighing up to 50 pounds multiple times daily.
• Place items such as plates, utensils, pans, and cases on shelves of varying heights.
• Work primarily indoors (90%) with some outdoor exposure (10%).
• Operate frequently in hot and humid environments.
• Respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations to ensure safety.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements

The role requires abilities such as reading operational documents, writing routine reports, and communicating effectively. Basic math skills to solve practical problems and interpret instructions are needed.

Physically, employees must be capable of sitting, walking, talking, hearing, handling objects, and reaching. They will often work in noisy, wet, and temperature-variable environments, requiring frequent bending, stooping, and lifting items up to 40 pounds. Standing for long periods and moving between areas is expected, along with adequate vision to perform detailed tasks.

Mental demands include the ability to collaborate within a team, adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment, and communicate clearly in verbal and written form.

Work Environment
