General Utility

Position Overview

The General Utility role is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in kitchen workspaces, handling equipment, dishware, and utensils to ensure sanitary conditions. This position also contributes to food prep support and upholds the organization's core values aligned with the TSFR Roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

• Scrape and pre-rinse food remnants from dirty dishes before loading into the dishwasher (approximately 50% of work time).
• Wash pots, pans, and trays manually or using a machine (around 15% of time).
• Perform all assigned food preparation tasks (about 10%).
• Dispose of trash and garbage by transporting it to the dumpster area (10%).
• Clean tables, walls, refrigeration, cooking equipment, and floors in work areas (5%).
• Sanitize garbage cans and trash receptacles (5%).
• Assemble, maintain, and dismantle the dishwashing machine as needed (5%).
• Lift and carry cases weighing up to 50 pounds multiple times daily.
• Organize plates, utensils, pans, and cases on various shelves at different heights.
• Perform work primarily indoors (90%) with occasional outdoor duties (10%).
• Operate in hot and humid conditions frequently.
• Respond promptly and appropriately during emergencies to ensure safety.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Must be capable of reading and understanding documents such as contracts and procedural manuals as well as writing routine reports and communicating effectively with groups.
• Able to solve practical issues involving diverse variables with limited standardization, and follow instructions in different formats.
• Must regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, listen, handle objects, and reach; adapt to wet floors, extreme temperatures, and loud noise.
• Physically able to bend, stoop, lift dish racks up to 40 pounds consistently, and stand for extended periods while moving between workstations.
• Require good close vision and focus adjustment capability.
• Psychologically, able to operate within fast-paced team environments, adapt to change, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

Work Environment and Additional Information

• Work may occasionally necessitate travel by car, alone or with a coworker, to other locations.
