Key Responsibilities
- Deliver primary medical care to patients following professional standards, legislation, and Defence policies.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on the health and wellbeing of Defence personnel.
- Assess Defence members for fitness for duty and provide care supporting their health before and after deployments.
- Provide medical advice to health and defence command leadership.
- Supported by senior medical officers and uniformed colleagues in both outpatient and inpatient care settings, including a 24/7 low dependency ward.
About ADF Health Services and Location
ADF Health Services, in partnership with Bupa, offers integrated healthcare to Australian Defence Force members at over 45 base locations nationally. The Lavarack Health Centre, situated at Lavarack Barracks in Townsville, is the largest Army base and serves about 8,000 members, providing a range of primary and specialty healthcare services. Standard hours are typically 7:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday, with weekend shifts based on specific requirements.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Unrestricted and current registration as a General Medical Practitioner in Australia via AHPRA.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM), or Vocational Registration.
- At least 2 years of full-time equivalent post-graduate experience in general practice within the last 5 years.
- Ongoing engagement in Continuous Professional Development as per AHPRA standards.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.
Additional Information
- Applicants must be Australian citizens to secure the required Baseline Security Clearance.
- Defence Force enlistment is not required; civilian personnel maintain their role even if Defence members are deployed.
