General Laborer - Utility Locating Technician

Stake Center Locating is currently seeking both beginner and experienced Utility Locating Technicians based in Indianapolis, IN. Joining this team means starting with a competitive wage of $21.25 per hour or higher depending on prior locating experience. We offer comprehensive, fully paid training to equip you with essential skills needed for successful locating operations, emphasizing damage prevention for underground utility infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• Prioritize safety in every task you perform.
• Utilize a tablet device to receive, document, and process work orders and communicate via email.
• Interpret maps and blueprints to determine the optimal methods and sequencing for utility locating.
• Operate locating equipment and technology accurately to identify underground utilities.
• Engage professionally with colleagues, supervisors, and community members.

Who We're Looking For

• Individuals 18 years or older.
• Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Hold a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Physically able to walk up to five miles on certain workdays and carry electronic locating equipment weighing up to 5 lbs for prolonged periods.
• Capable of lifting objects weighing up to 25 lbs manually or heavier loads (75+ lbs) using tools.
• Willingness to undergo and pass background checks and drug screenings prior to employment.

Working Conditions and Schedule

• Preparedness to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as dictated by work demand.
• Participation in an on-call rotation to respond to emergency calls during scheduled shifts.
• Work primarily outdoors across various weather conditions.
