Role Overview
As a Gameplay Programmer at Cloud Imperium Games, you will be integral to developing immersive gameplay systems using our proprietary, cutting-edge, multi-threaded engine. Your work will contribute to richly detailed, realistic spacescapes and a variety of gameplay mechanics spanning multi-crew space combat, planetary first-person shooting, asteroid mining, cargo running, bounty hunting, and cinematic narration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust, scalable, and reliable gameplay code.
- Collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams to design and build innovative gameplay systems.
- Participate in peer reviews of technical designs and documentation to ensure high-quality standards.
- Identify development challenges and risks, proposing and executing creative strategies to overcome them.
- Champion engineering best practices and drive innovative approaches within the team.
- Promote a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous growth among peers.
Essential Qualifications
- A profound passion for video game development.
- Proficiency in C++ programming within extensive shared codebases.
- Strong understanding of 3D mathematical concepts relevant to game mechanics.
- Experience creating game features and systems.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, co-located team environment.
- Effective communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both programmers and cross-functional colleagues.
