Role Overview

We seek a seasoned boner or further processing professional to join our Nelson Plant as a Further Processing Trainer. This hands-on position involves mentoring and coaching staff on the processing floor to elevate skill levels, improve quality, yield, and safety standards, and drive continuous improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide practical boning and processing training directly on the production floor.
• Coach team members in refining cutting techniques, enhancing product quality, and boosting yield.
• Support new hires with onboarding and skill competency development.
• Collaborate with supervisors to identify and address skills gaps to enhance overall team capability.
• Conduct assessments to track training progress and workplace competency.
• Assist in the upkeep and execution of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Maintain precise records related to training and assessments.
• Contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing safety, product quality, yield, and operational efficiency.
• Champion best practices and safe operating procedures throughout the department.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is experienced in boning or further processing and passionate about cultivating skills in others to help them reach their full potential.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Extensive hands-on experience in boning, trimming, or further processing within the meat industry.
• Deep understanding of yield optimization, adherence to product specs, and quality benchmarks.
• Proven ability to coach and mentor colleagues, sharing technical expertise effectively.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for relationship building.
• Familiarity with food safety protocols, quality assurance, and occupational health and safety regulations.
• Competent in computer usage and meticulous in maintaining records.

Desirable Attributes

• Previous experience in training or overseeing teams in a production setting.
• Formal qualifications as a Workplace Assessor or in adult education.
• Current Primary ITO Assessor Registration or equivalent industry-recognized certification.
