First Aider - Night Shift

Role Overview

We are looking for a dependable and empathetic First Aider to deliver immediate first aid and occupational health support during the night shift at the Alliance Mataura Plant in Southland, New Zealand. This role involves hands-on emergency response, aiding employee recovery, and promoting workplace wellbeing within a dynamic production setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide prompt triage and thorough first aid treatment for onsite emergencies.
• Escalate cases requiring professional medical attention and assist employee recovery processes.
• Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, treatments, investigations, and ACC records.
• Coordinate follow-up care for employees on light duties, sick leave, or return-to-work plans in collaboration with health professionals.
• Support onsite medical staff including the doctor, occupational health nurse, and physiotherapist with appointments, room setup, and patient care.
• Administer pre-employment medical assessments, health screenings, workplace drug, and alcohol testing as needed.
• Monitor and restock medical supplies while performing regular checks on equipment like oxygen cylinders and defibrillators.
• Advocate for safe working practices, promote Alliance Group values, and encourage positive safety culture changes across the plant.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of current first aid certification with advanced first aid skills.
• Understanding of health and safety compliance; experience in health, manufacturing, or production sectors favourable.
• Additional qualifications such as higher medical care education or Pre-Hospital Emergency Care training are beneficial.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel with the ability to maintain precise records and documentation.
• Trustworthy, approachable, reliable, and able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Capable of working independently under pressure yet actively contributing to a team environment.
• Exemplify compassion and professionalism to build strong relationships and offer unbiased care in a fast-paced environment.
