Role Description
The Sales Associate provides friendly and efficient customer service by proactively engaging customers, assessing their needs, and offering tailored advice. They possess thorough expertise regarding products, departments, and services offered, delivering detailed information about product features and suggesting complementary items to support complete project solutions. Within their assigned department, they warmly welcome all customers, foster rapport, and conclude each interaction with appreciation. They may also assist with basic service requirements in adjacent departments. Their focus remains on excellent customer service by identifying and fulfilling clients' needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer satisfaction by greeting customers, establishing connections, and closing interactions appreciatively according to company service standards.
- Actively seek out customers throughout the store and guide them to appropriate merchandise regardless of department.
- Ask open-ended questions about customer projects to determine expertise level and requirements.
- Promote additional available services such as Special Services, Rental, Pro Desk, and Pro Service, understanding how to recommend them effectively.
- Enhance sales by discussing product options (good, better, best) and suggesting related items or services customers might need from other departments.
- Inform customers comprehensively regarding their entire project scope.
- Utilize the empowerment policy to resolve customer issues and ensure satisfaction when necessary.
- Maintain daily shelf upkeep: ensure all products are correctly labeled, properly displayed, and clean.
- Continuously update knowledge about products in assigned and neighboring departments.
- Proactively seek to familiarize oneself with all products and services offered.
- Adhere strictly to all policies and procedures, including loss prevention protocols.
Physical and Working Conditions
- Regularly bend, stoop, stretch, twist, as well as lift, push, pull, and move items.
- Flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- Work environment may be dusty, noisy, with open doors creating drafts and temperature fluctuations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One to two years of experience in retail or a trade is beneficial.
Additional Information
- Supervision is provided by a supervisor.
- No travel requirements.
The role demands strong communication skills, a customer-oriented attitude, and interpersonal abilities.
