Job description

Position Overview

The Pro Account Sales Associate (PASA) role centers on cultivating strong relationships and selling products to industrial, commercial, and professional clientele. The role combines expert product knowledge across all store departments with superior customer service to support and grow key professional accounts. Additionally, PASAs perform typical sales floor duties, maintain work area organization, and contribute to the overall store experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Devote at least 25% of working hours to pursuing new business opportunities, primarily through active customer prospecting on the sales floor.
  • Establish and maintain personalized relationships with Pro customers, anticipating their specific needs based on their business focus.
  • Apply effective selling techniques such as up-selling, add-on sales, and closing to fulfill full project requirements and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Keep a current and organized account profile system to track top customers and identify potential new accounts, alongside maintaining a tidy workspace.
  • Follow up with customers to guarantee satisfaction and explore future business prospects, collaborating with Store Management to resolve any issues.
  • Set and strive to achieve personal objectives including sales targets, quotes, and credit accounts, working with Supervisors to enhance selling skills.
  • Deliver sales presentations outside the store (such as at job sites or meetings) when authorized by Supervisors.
  • Prepare customer quotes and efficiently process orders via fax, phone, and counter, communicating details accurately to order fulfillment teams.
  • Verify orders are collected or delivered according to customer requests and educate Store Associates on the Pro Program to encourage store-wide involvement.

Physical and Working Conditions

  • Involves physical activities such as bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving heavy or bulky items without assistance.
  • Able to respond attentively to public address announcements and customer service communications.
  • Occasionally climb ladders up to 16 feet to access or stock merchandise.
  • Persistently walk and stand throughout the store to assist customers.
  • Recognize and interpret merchandise labeling and reports for accurate handling.
  • Work environment includes dust, noise, temperature fluctuations due to open doors, and potential exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Floor surfaces may be uneven or slippery at times due to equipment traffic and weather.
  • Must operate safely around forklifts emitting gas fumes and handle tools with sharp edges responsibly.

Additional Information

  • Reports directly to the Department Supervisor.
  • No travel is required for this position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year of experience in receiving is mandatory.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is between $22.05 and $24.05 per hour.
