Position Overview
The Distribution Planner role is based in Penrose, Auckland, within the New Zealand Distributor business. Reporting to the Distribution Planning Manager, the successful candidate will execute short-term supply and distribution planning for selected product portfolios. This role works closely with Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Sales Operations, and Commercial teams, ensuring inventory availability, risk management, and outstanding customer service. Operating mainly within the Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE) timeframe, the role focuses on immediate planning decisions critical for seamless supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) and manage stock distribution across multiple centres.
- Continuously monitor inventory levels to anticipate and resolve potential stock shortages.
- Formulate and execute mitigation strategies for supply challenges, such as delays or constraints.
- Oversee stock transfers between branches to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
- Analyze sales performance and collaborate with Demand Planning to refine replenishment strategies.
- Coordinate the flow of inbound inventory from ports to warehouse facilities.
- Manage inventory health by addressing issues related to excess, obsolete, and slow-moving stock.
- Maintain transparency of short-term supply status and communicate associated risks and measures to stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with supply chain, commercial, and finance units to support overall business goals.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Proven background in supply chain or distribution planning, inventory control, or related operational roles.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex inventory and supply metrics.
- Familiarity with planning methodologies such as Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and competence in navigating multiple technology platforms.
- Experience with ERP, inventory management, or supply planning software systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving and operational challenges.
