About Paires and the Role

Paires is an AI-driven platform designed to facilitate capital raising by connecting startup founders with suitable investors within an engaged global network. The platform uniquely manages two-sided relationships, where conversational AI agents conduct warm outreach and maintain investor communications, fostering meetings and investment opportunities. Currently operating profitably and self-funded, Paires operates with a small, experienced, and agile team focused on rapid delivery.

Role Responsibilities

The Founding AI Engineer will take full ownership of Paires' core technology comprising the agent system that drives the product experience and the underlying investor-founder matching engine. This responsibility includes building, scaling, and maintaining:

• An orchestrator coordinating specialist agents that research investors, generate human-like outreach messages, and autonomously manage investor conversations end to end, with evaluation mechanisms controlling agent actions.
• The matching engine leveraging embeddings, ranking algorithms, scoring, and feedback loops to continuously enhance match accuracy between founders and investors.
• The backend infrastructure and data pipelines utilizing Python, PostgreSQL, Supabase, and AWS, with the agent system developed using Claude Agent SDK and Pydantic AI.
• End-to-end shipping of software to production with a strategic sense of prioritization for future development as the product scales.

Candidate Profile

• Experience as an early engineer at a fast-growing startup where you delivered scalable, production-ready products and handled comprehensive product ownership.
• At least 3 years of production software development experience, demonstrating ability to take a complete application from inception to stable running state.
• Practical experience deploying large language model (LLM) systems to production, including agent architectures beyond simple prompt loops.
• Hands-on expertise building retrieval, ranking, and matching systems using embeddings in live environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python programming with clear reasoning about data and system design.
• Capability to design and implement evaluation techniques to ensure output quality.
• Self-driven and accountable for end results, able to move rapidly using AI development tools, writing code independently as part of a builder role without team delegation.
• Bonus skills include TypeScript in production, FastAPI framework experience, managing vector databases, and background in fintech or fundraising sectors.

Work Arrangement and Benefits

This fully remote position operates asynchronously, with overlapping work hours aligned partially with US Eastern Time, scheduling meetings primarily on Mondays and Thursdays to maximize deep work time. The role comes with access to premium AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and top-tier language models. The position offers genuine ownership over the platform's core functionality and equity upside for the right candidate.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is between 230,000 to 370,000 Canadian dollars annually.
