About the Role

As a Forward Deployed Application/ML Engineering Expert, you will design, develop, and maintain AI-native enterprise software solutions that combine cloud-native systems engineering with machine learning and AI agent capabilities. Your role is pivotal in embedding these intelligent applications directly within client environments, collaborating closely with delivery teams to meet complex business needs.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop robust, cloud-native enterprise applications that integrate advanced AI elements including large language models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agent-based workflows.
• Work embedded within customer projects and agile cross-disciplinary teams to rapidly understand and address operational and technical business challenges.
• Transform ambiguous business and product requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable application designs.
• Rapidly prototype and iterate AI solutions, adjusting frameworks and assets for seamless integration into enterprise environments.
• Manage the entire application delivery pipeline—from initial exploration and prototyping through to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing operations.
• Implement AI-assisted development methodologies, evaluation standards, and architectural guardrails consistent with organizational compliance and ethical guidelines.
• Maintain responsibility for meeting delivery timelines, quality benchmarks, and risk management within your technical domain.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison for customers and internal stakeholders, effectively communicating solution design choices, trade-offs, and progress updates.
• Contribute towards defining engineering standards, reusable components, and practices to foster consistency and efficiency across development teams.

What You Bring

• Deep expertise in software and application engineering tailored to cloud-native, enterprise, and SaaS platforms, emphasizing scalability, security, and robust architecture.
• Demonstrated success in creating AI-native applications using large language models, RAG techniques, vector databases, and AI agents to innovate workflow automation.
• Proficient with mainstream AI/ML libraries and tools in Python, with solid experience in data pipeline management and MLOps practices.
• Skilled in applying agentic AI frameworks to integrate intelligent agents responsibly within complex enterprise business scenarios.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities complemented by experience in design thinking; ability to mentor teams and define best practices and guardrails.
• History of leading teams and cultivating a high-performance engineering culture focused on quality and innovation.
• Familiarity with SAP AI platforms like SAP AI Core, Vectorization, Joule Studio, RPT-1, and Business Data Cloud is a distinct advantage.
• Experience managing solutions throughout the full application lifecycle including development, deployment, and production support.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and cross-functional teams on complex technical subjects.
