Job Overview

The Fleet Lead is charged with the oversight and administration of the company's delivery fleet, ensuring that goods are transported efficiently and punctually. This position emphasizes maintaining fleet safety, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to all legal and internal standards. Key responsibilities include driver performance monitoring, vehicle maintenance coordination, and strategic initiatives to enhance fleet operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage daily fleet operations including vehicle distribution, scheduling, and real-time tracking to guarantee prompt delivery services.
  • Supervise a team of drivers, enforcing company policies and safety regulations while maintaining performance standards.
  • Organize routine maintenance and repair to keep vehicles in optimal condition, thus reducing service interruptions.
  • Analyze fleet performance metrics such as fuel consumption, delivery punctuality, and repair expenses; implement measures to boost efficiency and cost savings.
  • Enforce compliance with all relevant legal, safety, and company policies; conduct safety inspections and lead driver training programs.
  • Work closely with logistics to optimize delivery routes, cutting fuel use and shortening delivery times.
  • Oversee the fleet budget to enable cost-effective operations without compromising service quality; identify potential savings and operational enhancements.
  • Manage interactions with third-party vendors including vehicle leasing, fuel suppliers, and maintenance services to secure quality services at competitive rates.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for vehicle inspections, maintenance history, fuel consumption, and driver performance; prepare fleet performance reports for management.
  • Provide continual training and development opportunities for drivers to enhance their competencies and job performance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum educational requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in fleet management or logistics, including a minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity managing drivers and vehicles.
