Job description
Overview
The Data Center Specialist is responsible for managing and supporting the data center infrastructure to uphold its availability, security, and optimal performance, which in turn supports Panda Retail Company's digital and business functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and operate data center facilities along with servers, storage, and network components to ensure uninterrupted service availability.
- Continuously monitor environmental conditions such as power supply, cooling systems, and alarms to maintain a secure and safe operational environment.
- Handle installation, configuration, and replacement of data center hardware to reinforce infrastructure reliability.
- Investigate and resolve infrastructure issues and hardware faults swiftly to reduce service disruption.
- Carry out authorized maintenance, system upgrades, and security patches to preserve infrastructure performance and standards.
- Enforce access controls, safety protocols, and security measures within the data center to safeguard assets and sensitive data.
- Maintain detailed records of infrastructure setups, alterations, and incident logs for operational transparency.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams during maintenance tasks and incident responses to facilitate prompt resolutions.
- Aid in capacity tracking and recommend enhancements to improve data center efficiency and operations.
Educational & Qualification Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related discipline is required.
- Substantial demonstrated experience in data center operations and management.
- Advanced knowledge of data center technologies and industry best practices.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills pertinent to data center environments.
- Strong communication capabilities and interpersonal skills to work effectively within teams.
- Comprehensive understanding of server hardware and software systems.
- Proficiency with networking and storage technologies.
- Experienced in implementing data center security and disaster recovery procedures.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize duties efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
