Job Overview

The role involves driving fire trucks to emergency locations and operating fire and rescue equipment under the guidance of the event leader. Ensuring all firefighting apparatus are functional and ready for immediate deployment is a key responsibility.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain readiness and alertness to respond swiftly to various emergencies including fires, oil spills, and operational failures, equipped with suitable recovery tools.
  • Drive firefighting and emergency response vehicles safely to incident scenes to support fire and rescue operations.
  • Operate vehicle-mounted pumps and rescue equipment during emergencies to assist the fire and rescue teams effectively.
  • Provide first-aid assistance and arrange transportation for injured personnel to medical facilities as needed.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance on firefighting trucks and suppression equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Conduct testing and demonstration exercises to verify the reliability of firefighting machinery and systems such as foam, water, and dry chemical powder (DCP) operations.
  • Support rescue operations in challenging environments like fires, confined spaces, elevations, and water bodies in accordance with company safety protocols.
  • Maintain administrative documentation related to vehicle and equipment registration, licensing, and compliance with HSE and quality management systems.
  • Participate actively in HSE activities, drills, training sessions, and coordinate necessary permits such as road closures.
  • Engage in daily physical fitness routines to ensure the capability to perform demanding tasks.
  • Carry out basic upkeep of fire trucks including cleaning, hose management, and refilling tanks to sustain readiness.
  • Manage and operate recharging equipment for firefighting agents like powder, CO2, and nitrogen following safety procedures.
  • Adhere to functional policies, standards, and procedures to meet operational objectives.
  • Contribute to training of new operators to support competency-based programs for UAE Nationalization.
  • Identify opportunities for ongoing improvements in operational and procedural practices.
  • Comply with HSE regulations and company codes to promote health, safety, environment, and sustainability standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the work area before and during operations.
  • Provide inputs for progress reports and Key Performance Indicator checklists for management.
  • Coordinate and communicate with internal teams such as Squad Leaders, Crisis Management, HSE, Medical & Health, and Maintenance, as well as external agencies including Civil Defence and contractors.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Technical diploma in a relevant field or secondary school certificate complemented by a vocational trade certificate in the relevant area.
  • At least 4 years of practical experience in technical roles, firefighting operations, and vehicle driving.
  • Familiarity with facility layouts, firefighting pump operations, ladder and rescue equipment, and tanker apparatus.
  • Basic first-aid knowledge including CPR, casualty assessment, and handling.
  • Possession of NFPA 1001 and 472 certifications, a heavy vehicle driving license, and a defensive driving license.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Minimal physical effort required for the role.
  • Primarily an air-conditioned work environment with occasional exposure to outdoor conditions such as heat, humidity, and dust during site visits.
