Financial Controller

About the Role

DHL Express is a global leader in express logistics services, operating in over 220 countries and territories worldwide. We are looking for a Financial Controller to join our innovative team in Auckland, New Zealand. This role is designed for a finance subject matter expert who is passionate about financial controlling and eager to influence business success through strategic financial management.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and implement controlling objectives, plans, and processes aligned with the complexity of specific business units.
• Lead controlling projects including financial risk and opportunity assessments, and oversight of operations and investments.
• Perform detailed analysis of multifaceted data sets to prepare forecasts, reports, and recommendations that guide management decisions.
• Deliver timely and accurate financial analyses and performance reports, integrating both financial and non-financial metrics for management.
• Implement financial policies concerning budgeting and cost management to generate reports necessary for budget oversight.
• Manage cost allocation and profitability evaluations within applicable financial systems.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and presentations for management, collaborating closely with local teams and accounting departments.
• Serve as a financial consultant advising on regulatory compliance, taxation, financial planning, annual budgeting, and profitability improvement strategies.
• Support business leaders in developing and analyzing business cases for informed decision-making.
• Identify and propose process improvements in controlling methodologies and tools to enhance transparency and operational efficiency through automation and digital solutions.
• Oversee ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting where applicable, including gathering data and defining key performance indicators.
• Provide guidance to business managers on interpreting financial information and extracting actionable insights.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related discipline.
• Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) or equivalent qualification.
• More than six years of experience in controlling or finance sectors.
• Proficient with financial policies, financial reporting systems, advanced Microsoft Excel, Business Intelligence tools, Power BI, and data visualization.
• Strong knowledge of DHL's business operations, financial reporting, and business processes.
• Expertise in financial planning, forecasting, strategic planning, and managing financial risks.
• Demonstrated stakeholder management and business partnering skills.
• Effective project management abilities and a collaborative working style.
• A strong interest in digital technologies and technology trends, especially related to ESG initiatives.
