Role Overview

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our finance team in Dunedin, New Zealand, supporting month-end processes and financial reporting activities for our New Zealand operations. This role requires collaboration with multiple teams to facilitate auditing, tax compliance, accounts payable, payroll, and internal control initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support monthly financial accounting by preparing journals in the Pronto system and contributing to month-end workpapers.
  • Assist with the OneStream statutory financial consolidation aligned with corporate month-end deadlines.
  • Collaborate with management accounting to ensure timely and accurate month-end reporting.
  • Provide supporting documentation and respond to inquiries during quarterly audits and year-end reviews.
  • Assist in preparing IRD compliance submissions including GST, FBT, and income tax schedules.
  • Help prepare consolidated statutory financial statements for the New Zealand group, including reconciliations and audit materials.
  • Support accounts payable and payroll teams with routine administrative tasks and invoice workflow using Redmap.
  • Contribute to internal controls enhancement, remediation actions, and SOX compliance efforts.
  • Participate in finance system projects, upgrades, compliance checks, and continuous improvement initiatives through task completion, testing, documentation, and user support.
  • Work closely with the Financial Accountant, finance team, and site stakeholders to deliver assigned duties accurately and promptly.
  • Identify and propose improvements for routine processes, documentation, and reconciliations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Accounting, or a comparable tertiary qualification in accounting is preferred, or currently pursuing such qualifications.
  • While Chartered Accountant membership is not mandatory, support for professional qualification studies such as CA may be provided when appropriate.
  • Applicants must hold a current New Zealand work visa.
  • Preferably 1 to 2 years of accounting or finance experience, including familiarity with month-end procedures, reconciliations, or compliance requirements.

Additional Information

  • This position is residential in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand.
  • The work schedule follows a 9-day fortnight roster: five days on, two days off, four days on, three days off, with working hours from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.
