Field Service Technician

Position Overview

The Project Engineer will oversee the setup, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of Wi-Fi, CCTV, Video Door Phone (VDP), and networking installations across residential project locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys and understand network requirements for projects.
• Install, configure, and commission Wi-Fi Access Points, routers, switches, and related networking hardware.
• Perform LAN cable tests, continuity checks, and troubleshoot connectivity problems.
• Configure and manage LAN settings including VLANs, IP addresses, DHCP, and other network protocols.
• Test Wi-Fi coverage and resolve issues to ensure connectivity quality.
• Properly install cabling, network racks, patch panels with neat dressing and labeling.
• Verify network performance before handover.
• Install and configure IP CCTV systems: cameras, NVRs, PoE switches, and storage units.
• Set camera IPs, recording schedules, resolution, storage options, and remote access.
• Troubleshoot hardware, connectivity, and recording issues within CCTV systems.
• Ensure cameras are positioned according to approved plans and perform system tests with client demos.
• Install, test, and configure Video Door Phone units (indoor/outdoor), including call functions, door unlocking, mobile app integration, and network connectivity.
• Coordinate with automation and electrical teams to integrate VDP systems effectively.
• Provide technical support by diagnosing and resolving issues at sites for Wi-Fi, networking, CCTV, and VDP devices.
• Collaborate with OEMs/vendors for technical assistance when required.
• Maintain detailed documentation of installations, testing, commissions, and project progress reports.
• Update network topology, IP addressing schemes, device configurations, and obtain client sign-offs upon project completion.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or Networking.
• Minimum of 1 year relevant experience in Networking.

Technical Skills Required

• Strong fundamentals in networking including LAN, VLANs, TCP/IP, DHCP, and IP addressing.
• Proficiency installing and configuring Wi-Fi Access Points, routers, and managed/P oE switches.
• Experience with LAN cable continuity testing and network troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of IP CCTV devices, NVRs, storage setups, and remote monitoring systems.
• Familiarity with Video Door Phone systems and mobile app configuration.
• Ability to read and interpret network diagrams, layouts, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
