Role Overview

As a Mechanical Engineer at Halter, you will contribute to the design and production of our cutting-edge livestock collars, which need to be extremely durable for harsh environments. Following our recent Series D funding, we aim to rapidly scale manufacturing and expand into global markets. This role offers opportunity to lead unique mechanical projects requiring problem-solving, critical thinking, and excellence in execution. You will be part of a small, agile team with possibilities for skill development, leadership, and mentorship.

Key Expertise

• Design of highly reliable devices with experience in automotive, agricultural, or military-grade product development.
• Planning and conducting thorough verification and validation tests, including documenting results and validating production processes to support high-volume manufacturing.
• Provisioning and managing contract manufacturers for high-quality injection molded parts, including tool commissioning and understanding common injection molding challenges.
• Designing for manufacturing and assembly to simplify production and streamline assembly processes.

Daily Activities

• Taking full ownership and accountability for project success at individual, team, and organizational levels.
• Engaging hands-on in fast-paced product development, delivering robust electro-mechanical solutions ready for production.
• Spending time with farmers, ranchers, and animals to focus on ergonomic design needs.
• Collaborating closely with overseas suppliers, including travel to China and Thailand (~10% of the year), to optimize designs and manufacturing.
• Contributing actively to a high-performance team culture, driving growth and innovation.
• Participating in various tasks beyond engineering, helping ensure customer and product satisfaction.
