Estimator - Electrical

Overview

SES Engineering Services is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to join the Technology team, primarily focusing on high-profile Data Centre and Advanced Manufacturing projects. Key Responsibilities

• Produce thorough cost assessments for electrical systems including low voltage/high voltage distribution, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, generators, cable containment, and lighting installations.
• Calculate quantities and costs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted services.
• Review quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure technical and commercial compliance, including fire and security systems as well as lightning and earthing protection.
• Create detailed cost breakdowns and summaries for tender bids, factoring in lifecycle costs.
• Participate in site inspections and pre-bid meetings to evaluate project scopes, identify constraints, and assess risks.
• Collaborate with design, commercial, and delivery teams to formulate bid strategies aligned with client requirements.
• Prepare and submit complete tender documentation consistent with client bid management systems and standards.
• Interpret detailed electrical specifications, drawings, and performance criteria related to projects.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering to improve efficiency and reduce costs while ensuring designs meet redundancy, scalability, and energy efficiency standards of data centre construction.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as MEP engineers, BIM specialists, and procurement teams to ensure alignment.
• Foster strong relationships with specialist suppliers and subcontractors critical to the sector.
• Assist in post-tender negotiations and facilitate project handovers with precise documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of estimates, assumptions, and pricing data sources.
• Update cost databases incorporating data centre-specific benchmarks and market trends.
• Provide regular reports to senior management regarding bid success rates, competitive market analysis, and lessons learned.
