About the Role
Black & McDonald Limited invites applications for the position of Estimator to join our Southern Ontario team based in Scarborough, Ontario. If you have a passion for estimation and engineering within construction, this opportunity offers engaging projects across the Greater Toronto Area where you can excel in a stimulating and rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed electrical, mechanical, and civil component take-offs and estimates for construction projects.
- Calculate costs precisely for materials, labor, and equipment using comprehensive drawings and specifications.
- Lead the tendering process including cost monitoring and reporting procedures implementation.
- Work closely with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to develop competitive pricing packages.
- Participate actively in site reviews, tender evaluations, project hand-offs, and closure activities.
- Maintain an extensive directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to propose innovative estimation solutions.
- Create tender construction schedules and develop scope-of-work strategies.
- Manage and update the Bid2Win estimating software database to ensure smooth project estimation workflow.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Fundamentals.
- Background in electrical trades is considered an asset.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in construction estimating.
- Experience with construction projects is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Bid2Win estimating software.
