Role Overview

This position requires an experienced electrician with pharmaceutical or medical device industry experience, specializing in both planned and reactive maintenance in implant manufacturing and packaging environments. The technician will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team comprising fitters, electricians, process engineers, and mechatronics experts. The role emphasizes continuous identification of improvement and efficiency opportunities to ensure consistent delivery of safe, high-quality products to customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance activities, both planned and unplanned, on manufacturing, filling, and packaging machinery following a Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) approach.
• Conduct troubleshooting and fault diagnosis on automated, semi-automated, and batch production equipment; enhance performance leveraging Continuous Improvement and Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) techniques.
• Support equipment-related projects from the design phase through to installation.
• Identify and implement improvements enhancing efficiency and ensuring adherence to site Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety policies, training, and compliance requirements.
• Participate in on-call duties as necessary.
• Maintain up-to-date training records using the eLMS platform.
• Keep the Maximo system current for managing stock parts reordering and maintenance records.
• Work collaboratively with vendors and suppliers to procure non-stock items.
• Take ownership of Maintenance Excellence Program (MEP) commitments by accurately documenting downtime instances using Maximo, detailing downtime duration, corrective/preventative measures, and used parts.

Qualifications and Experience

• Must hold a National Craft Senior Trades Electrical qualification.
• At least 4 years of experience in maintenance and troubleshooting within highly automated pharmaceutical or similarly regulated settings, including automation, robotics, packaging, and automated inspection operations.
• Solid knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and automation systems such as PLCs, HMIs, pick-and-place robotics, pneumatic controls, IPCs, PC-based tools, vision systems, variable speed drives (VSDs), servo drives, and SCADA systems.
• Competent in using Maximo for managing maintenance requests and inventory control.
• Preparedness to work on shift patterns and travel to equipment vendors as necessary.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Flexibility to take on additional duties outside of normal responsibilities as assigned.
