Role Overview

We are looking for a technically strong and execution-driven Cloud Backend Engineering Manager to lead our core cloud engineering team. This role requires hands-on involvement with designing, implementing, and owning critical backend systems that support next-generation connected vehicle platforms. You will help define technical roadmaps, deliver key platform elements, and manage scalable, high-throughput cloud infrastructures that interface with physical edge devices globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain core backend modules in Go and cloud infrastructure, owning the architecture and quality of these systems.
• Design robust, distributed cloud-native logging and data ingestion pipelines that handle large, complex data streams from vehicle edge devices.
• Architect APIs for remote fleet configuration and control that efficiently operate over intermittent cellular connections.
• Lead, expand, and mentor a skilled AI-focused backend engineering team involved in AI development and automation integration.
• Implement and optimize tiered storage solutions spanning SQL, NoSQL, and OLAP to efficiently manage streaming data and cold storage.
• Establish high standards in code quality, code reviews, CI/CD automation, and comprehensive service testing.
• Ensure effective collaboration across products, frontend teams, and international engineering groups to deliver projects on time as the technical authority for your pod.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of nine years’ experience in backend software development, including leadership experience as a Tech Lead, Component Owner, or Manager.
• Deep familiarity with hardware data logger cloud services and ecosystems, including interaction with systems similar to Intrepid Control Systems or Vector data logging servers used in automotive or industrial IoT domains.
• Knowledge of vehicle telemetry protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet, and their log formats (BLF, MDF4, PCAP) particularly at the cloud ingestion level.
• Demonstrated success developing AI/ML features or workflows deployed on distributed cloud environments.
• Strong expertise with cloud platforms, microservices, serverless technologies, Docker containers, and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Advanced coding ability primarily in Go (preferred), or comparable low-latency backend languages such as Rust, Java, or C++.
• Experience with real-time distributed messaging systems and streaming data platforms like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Apache Spark.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving aptitude to guide engineering delivery across global teams and time zones.
