Role Summary

The Senior Manager of Software Engineering will lead the Gliffy engineering team in Pune, focusing on visual collaboration and diagramming products. This leadership role involves overseeing daily engineering activities, ensuring quality delivery, cultivating team development, and fostering collaboration with other product teams such as Akana and OpenLogic. The role also partners closely with the VP of Engineering to influence strategy, resource management, and roadmap planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct daily planning, execution, and delivery quality for the Gliffy engineering team.
• Foster cross-team collaboration by building strong connections with Akana and OpenLogic engineering groups through shared planning and joint initiatives.
• Collaborate with the VP of Engineering on strategic planning, roadmap contributions, and allocation of resources for Gliffy.
• Encourage adoption of AI-assisted development technologies, agentic tooling, and engineering best practices to boost development speed, quality, and predictability.
• Effectively manage resources and priorities, adapting to shifting requirements while safeguarding delivery commitments.
• Partner with Product Management, QA, and Customer Success to align schedules, backlogs, and roadmaps.
• Lead recruitment, mentorship, and talent development efforts for the Pune engineering team, scaling hiring in line with business expansion.
• Conduct challenging conversations, recognize exceptional performance, and cultivate a culture of accountability and high achievement.
• Communicate transparently about risks, delays, and trade-offs to stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Engage in stretch projects including cross-team collaborations, organizational design, and mentoring other managers.
• Present clear and confident technical and progress updates to senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
• Maintain team cohesiveness and alignment with shared objectives within a global and matrixed engineering environment.

Requirements

• Over 8 years of software development experience with at least 4 years in leadership roles managing engineering teams within SaaS, enterprise, or similar software contexts.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience managing distributed global teams across regions including India, the US, and Europe.
• Proven delivery of enterprise-grade SaaS, hybrid, or on-premises applications, particularly API-first and developer-centric products.
• Strong expertise in scalable, fault-tolerant, multi-tenant architectures and modern engineering methodologies like Agile, CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality assurance.
• Track record in transforming software development life cycles with AI-assisted practices, automated workflows, and AI-native capabilities.
• Experience overseeing multiple teams or project streams, including resource and budget planning, execution, and operational decisions.
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and drive collaborative results.
• Proven capability to develop high-performing teams through coaching, performance management, and culture-building focused on accountability.
• Strong business acumen and data-driven decision-making skills supported by effective communication and compelling business case development.
• Experience in platform consolidation, mergers and acquisitions integration, or multi-product engineering environments is advantageous.
