Engineering Lead - Process Engineering for C2 Recovery Project

Role Overview

Act as the technical lead providing process engineering guidance for a large-scale C2 Recovery project throughout its FEED (Front End Engineering Design) and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) stages. Ensure that all engineering tasks, analyses, and deliverables align with project specifications, comply with international engineering standards, satisfy safety requirements, and meet operational goals. Lead contractor oversight, capability building, and the development and delivery of robust, safe engineering solutions.

Technical Leadership and Governance

• Lead the entire Process Engineering discipline during all phases of the project lifecycle.
• Review, authorize, and endorse engineering designs, studies, and documentation within the limits of delegated responsibility.
• Ensure strict adherence to applicable industry codes, corporate engineering standards, and the specific needs of the project.
• Evaluate technical concepts, feasibility studies, FEED documents, detailed engineering plans, and proposed design changes.
• Assess technical deviations, requests for waivers, and design variations critically.

Project Execution Support

• Provide expert process engineering input during concept selection, FEED, EPC, construction, commissioning, startup, and final handover stages.
• Support technical strategies for project execution, keeping safety, technical criteria, and operational objectives aligned.
• Assess EPC contractors, vendors, and service providers to verify compliance with specifications and industry best practices.
• Oversee engineering performance of contractors and the delivery quality of their engineering services.
• Facilitate effective interface management among engineering disciplines, project and operations teams, and other stakeholders.

Technical Assurance and Risk Management

• Carry out technical reviews and risk-based analyses of complex engineering challenges.
• Ensure that engineering decisions uphold plant reliability, maintainability, operability, and safety standards.
• Identify potential technical risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Contribute to technical assurance routines and initiatives for standardisation across engineering activities.

Stakeholder and Capability Development

• Maintain strong collaborative relationships with Operations, SHEQ, Project Management, and other internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate effectively with contractors, vendors, suppliers, shareholders, and third-party service providers.
• Offer technical guidance relating to process engineering and ensure deliverables meet operational needs.
• Support human resource planning including recruitment, competency assessments, mentoring, and ongoing professional development of team members.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
• A minimum of eight years’ total engineering experience.
• At least four years of direct experience within the Oil & Gas sector.
• Minimum one year in a supervisory, acting lead, or oversight role managing contractors.
• Experience working with oil and gas operators, EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, or service organizations.
• Familiarity with project planning, scheduling, cost management, project gating, risk and change management, interface control, commissioning, and project handover procedures.
• Strong expertise and practical application of international engineering standards, specifications, and design principles.
