Role Overview
As a Software Engineering Manager in our expanding team, you will provide guidance, mentorship, and career advancement support for several engineers, while collaborating closely with Product Management and Design teams. You will manage 2-3 Pods—groups combining engineers and product members—that work across the codebase implementing features and addressing user needs. Your leadership will also foster technical growth and help shape the engineering culture through hiring and process development in this startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and mentor engineering teams, driving performance improvements and high-quality deliverables.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, and designers to meet business goals.
- Participate in hiring and organizational development to build a supportive and inclusive engineering culture.
- Manage critical production services, including operational aspects like monitoring and on-call rotation.
- Facilitate constructive design discussions and foster a positive feedback culture.
- Lead strategic planning spanning immediate needs and long-term objectives.
Desired Qualifications
- Proven people management experience with a track record of mentoring engineers and conducting performance evaluations.
- Expertise in developing and operating highly available production services.
- Experience managing incident response and on-call processes.
- Strong technical acumen to assess complex design tradeoffs and provide independent evaluations.
- Proficiency in Go programming language used extensively across the system.
- Ability to both provide and receive constructive feedback and function autonomously.
- Adaptability to the fast-evolving environment of an early-stage company.
