Job description

Job Overview

This position involves responding to and resolving clients' repair requests with minimal supervision. It includes conducting preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, inspecting machinery visually, and transporting necessary equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and operate all relevant equipment shut-off valves.
  • Maintain required maintenance inventory and order necessary parts and supplies.
  • Communicate daily activities and issues effectively to other teams using approved communication standards and programs.
  • Read blueprints and standard electrical diagrams related to plumbing and HVAC systems proficiently.
  • Possess above-average skills in general engineering operations and mechanics, with expertise in at least three areas such as air conditioning and refrigeration, electricity, mechanics, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and building management.
  • Ensure safe use of manual and power tools along with other materials required for repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform highly complex repairs on physical property, electrical systems, plumbing, mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration systems, and pool heaters while ensuring compliance with company standards and local and national codes.
  • Troubleshoot and repair various equipment including pumps, motors, plumbing issues, electrical appliances, HVAC units, cosmetic items, electrical extensions, vacuum cleaners, internet devices; replace switches and outlets; and program televisions.
  • Employ lockout/tagout procedures prior to maintenance tasks.
  • Utilize engineering software related to preventive maintenance, energy management, and other relevant systems and devices.
  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting for hotel mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Train and mentor other engineers as required.
  • Perform duties of the service engineer including readings and rounds.
  • Follow company policies and procedures rigorously, report maintenance problems, hazardous conditions, accidents, and injuries, complete required safety training and certifications, and store flammable materials safely.
  • Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance; uphold confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
  • Greet and assist all guests courteously according to company standards; anticipate and address customer service needs; aid disabled guests and express genuine thanks.
  • Adhere to quality requirements and standards.
  • Foster positive and constructive professional relationships with peers; collaborate and assist in achieving common goals; listen and respond appropriately to coworkers' concerns.
  • Use clear and polite language in all communications.
  • Safely move, lift, carry, push, pull, and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds unaided, and heavier items with assistance.
  • Climb and descend stairs, service ramps, and ladders.
  • Reach objects above head and below knees, involving bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Search and retrieve work-related information using computers.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as requested.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is recommended along with relevant professional or technical experience.
  • Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration work, inventory and parts ordering, surface preparation, and painting.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in hotel engineering or maintenance.
  • Valid driving license required.
  • Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification is mandatory.
  • Compliance with applicable state and federal certification and licensing requirements.
