Kitchen Technician

Job Overview

This role involves responding promptly to repair requests from guests and interacting directly with them to resolve maintenance issues independently. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, inspection, and repair of kitchen equipment and various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems throughout the property.

Core Responsibilities

• Address and fix guest repair requests with minimal supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance such as cleaning and lubricating tools and equipment.
• Visually inspect machinery, tools, and equipment to ensure functionality.
• Carry and operate necessary tools and radios during tasks.
• Identify and operate shut-off valves to equipment when needed.
• Maintain inventory for maintenance and requisition parts accordingly.
• Communicate daily activities and problems effectively across different shifts using authorized communication channels.
• Understand and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics related to plumbing and HVAC systems expertly.
• Demonstrate proficient engineering operations skills and strong mechanical aptitude.
• Exhibit expertise in at least three technical categories such as air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, or building management, while maintaining above-average skills in others.
• Safely carry out complex repairs complying with company standards and local codes.
• Troubleshoot and fix various equipment including pumps, motors, plumbing fixtures, electrical devices, HVAC, and others.
• Apply Lockout/Tagout procedures before maintenance work to ensure safety.
• Use engineering computer programs related to preventive maintenance and energy management proficiently.
• Perform advanced diagnostics on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems within the hotel.
• Train and mentor junior engineers when required.
• Assume Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds documentation.
• Adhere strictly to all safety and security policies, report hazards or incidents, and complete necessary safety trainings.
• Maintain professional grooming and confidentiality regarding proprietary company information.
• Deliver warm and respectful guest service following company hospitality standards.
• Engage collaboratively with team members to achieve shared goals and address concerns effectively.
• Perform manual labor involving moving items up to 50 pounds, stair climbing, reaching, bending, and twisting as part of day-to-day duties.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum education of high school diploma or GED equivalent paired with vocational or technical training.
• Extensive experience with general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration work, inventory control, surface preparation, and painting.
• At least two years of experience specifically in hotel engineering or maintenance roles.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Mandatory Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification and compliance with all relevant state and federal licenses or certifications.

This position is located at Palm West Beach, Palm Jumeirah Road, Dubai and is a full-time, non-management role requiring on-site presence.
