Engineer I

Position Overview

This full-time non-management role involves addressing and resolving maintenance issues reported by guests at a hotel. The Engineer I is tasked with conducting preventive maintenance on various tools and equipment related to kitchen and mechanical areas, including routine cleaning and lubrication. The role demands regular visual inspections and the physical handling of equipment such as tools and radios. Key responsibilities include operating all shut-off valves for equipment and building utilities, managing maintenance inventory, and procuring necessary parts and supplies. The position requires effective communication of daily activities and issues between shifts using established communication protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to guest repair requests and communicate appropriately to resolve maintenance concerns.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment, including cleaning and lubrication tasks.
• Inspect tools, machines, and equipment visually and maintain required inventories.
• Operate shut-off valves for machinery and building utilities as needed.
• Carry necessary equipment during work shifts.
• Conduct surface preparation and minor repairs in areas such as drywall and wood trim, including painting and light bulb or air conditioning filter replacement.
• Troubleshoot and repair various systems including plumbing (e.g., unclog drains, toilet maintenance), electrical fixtures and devices, and general guestroom items.
• Program televisions and manage general housekeeping and engineering inventory tasks.
• Follow safety protocols including use of Lockout/Tagout procedures before maintenance work.
• Maintain and repair indoor and outdoor landscaping and sprinkler systems.
• Utilize basic computer skills for equipment scheduling and temperature adjustments.
• Adhere to company safety and security guidelines; report hazards and incidents promptly.
• Uphold professional personal appearance and confidentiality of company information.
• Provide courteous service to guests and assist guests with disabilities as per company standards.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate clearly and professionally.
• Perform physical tasks involving lifting, carrying up to 50 pounds, and mobility on stairs, ramps, and ladders.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Some practical experience in general maintenance, painting, and surface preparation is desirable.
• Previous experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is an advantage but not mandatory.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license is required.
• No supervisory responsibilities are associated with this role.

This position is based in the Central Area District North of Al Masjid Al Nabawi, Medina, Saudi Arabia. It is an onsite position without remote working options.
