Job description
Job Overview
We are seeking skilled electricians for a project located at the ONGC site in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The electrician will be entrusted with installing, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment while adhering strictly to industrial and site safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, motors, panels, lighting systems, and other electrical apparatus.
- Conduct preventive and remedial maintenance on electrical systems.
- Inspect electrical cables, switches, distribution boards, MCC panels, and related installations.
- Diagnose faults and execute troubleshooting and corrective measures.
- Perform tasks such as cable laying, cable termination, gland fitting, and equipment connections.
- Install and service industrial lighting, sockets, switches, and distribution boards.
- Maintain and verify functionality of motors, starters, contactors, relays, and control panels.
- Utilize instruments like multimeters, clamp meters, meggers, and insulation testers for testing.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring, and single-line diagrams.
- Ensure proper earthing and uphold electrical safety standards.
- Adhere to safety procedures including Permit to Work and Lockout/Tagout protocols.
- Use all required personal protective equipment during electrical operations.
- Report any electrical hazards or unsafe conditions immediately to supervisors.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe, orderly condition.
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and maintenance staff.
- Follow all project-specific operational, safety, and quality guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience
- ITI certification in Electrician Trade from a recognized institute is preferred.
- Valid Electrician or Wireman license or competency certificate where applicable.
- Relevant industry electrical experience considered favorably.
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years of related experience preferred, especially in Oil & Gas, refinery, petrochemical, power plants, offshore/onshore facilities, manufacturing, or heavy industry projects.
- Experience with ONGC or equivalent public sector units is advantageous; freshers are also eligible.
Required Skills
- Proficient in industrial electrical maintenance.
- Experienced in cable laying and terminations.
- Capable of electrical panel upkeep and troubleshooting starter motors.
- Knowledgeable about preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Skilled in electrical testing and fault diagnosis.
- Familiar with electrical safety protocols and basic diagram interpretation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a maintenance team.
Safety Protocols
- Willingness to strictly comply with ONGC and site health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Mandatory use of safety gear such as helmets, gloves, safety shoes, and other personal protective equipment.
- Follow approved Permit to Work (PTW) systems and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Participation in compulsory safety inductions and toolbox meetings.
- Prepare to work in industrial environments including shift schedules when necessary.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary will correspond to experience, competencies, and project requirements, ranging generally between 27,000 to 35,000 INR per month. Benefits will align with contractor or company policies and statutory regulations, such as Provident Fund and ESIC where applicable. Food, lodging, and transportation arrangements will be made according to project or contractor terms.

The successful applicant will be technically proficient, safety-oriented, disciplined, and capable of operating effectively in challenging industrial conditions. Compliance with ONGC project regulations, safety practices, and contractor stipulations is essential.
