Ventia plays a crucial role in sustaining communities by delivering essential infrastructure services throughout Aotearoa. This opportunity involves working within a robust team maintaining water and wastewater networks across the Far North region.

Role Overview

This position is primarily field-based and mobile, encompassing sites from Opononi to Russell and extending up to Kaitaia, with Kaikohe as the base of operations. The electrician will be tasked with maintaining electrical systems essential for the safe and efficient operation of water and wastewater services.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performing both planned and preventative maintenance on treatment plants, pump stations, and network assets
• Attending to reactive faults and breakdowns, participating in a shared on-call roster approximately one week per month
• Assisting with minor projects and upgrades
• Troubleshooting electrical components and systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems
• Ensuring adherence to safety protocols, environmental standards, and operational requirements
• Operating independently in the field and collaborating effectively within the wider team

Candidate Profile

Applicants may be newly qualified or have experience as electricians.

Essential Qualifications and Attributes

• Possession of EWRB Electrical Registration
• Holding a full New Zealand Driver's Licence
• A strong dedication to safety and quality workmanship

Valuable Experience

• Experience in industrial or infrastructure settings is preferred; water industry experience is not mandatory
• Exposure to PLCs, SCADA, pumps, motors, or control systems highly regarded
• Demonstrated ability in fault diagnosis and problem-solving
• Ability to work autonomously and manage individual workloads effectively
