About the Role

Amentum, a global leader in engineering, project management, and solution integration, is seeking a full-time Maintenance Electrician to join their team in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia. The Maintenance Electrician will be a vital member of a skilled team responsible for the upkeep of facility infrastructure and critical systems at the OASIS facility. The role includes planning, organizing, coordinating, scheduling, training, mentoring, and managing resources related to daily facility maintenance activities. Ensuring maintenance tasks are identified and completed promptly and efficiently to maintain equipment reliability and maximize productivity is a key objective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain various facility systems and infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions by replacing defective components such as fuses, wiring, and elements; clean and repair electrical motors and test equipment for safety.
  • Respond swiftly and effectively to abnormal operational events and emergencies, including urgent equipment repairs.
  • Communicate and collaborate with colleagues to uphold best practices and promote continuous improvement at individual and team levels.
  • Update and monitor technical drawings, panel schedules, and equipment operating procedures.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all facility infrastructure, equipment, and systems.
  • Complete necessary documentation accurately and promptly, including work orders, timesheets, and safety reports, ensuring paper orders are digitized.
  • Install new electrical equipment and infrastructure as required.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong knowledge and compliance with Work Health Safety (WHS) Act and Environmental Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Experience within facility maintenance or a related technical environment.
  • Familiarity with electrical infrastructure terminology and electronic equipment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of facility equipment functions and operational requirements.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance strategies including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
  • Experience or willingness to learn about 110V (US) power systems.
  • Ability to learn and understand additional technical fields such as High Voltage and Power Generation.
  • Well-developed problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning tools like SAP or Archibus.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, power distribution, and industrial control circuits.
  • Understanding of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).

Licenses and Certifications

  • Australian applicants must hold a valid "A" Grade Electrical License.
  • US applicants should hold and maintain at least a State Journeyman’s License; Arizona applicants require a State "Contractors" License.
  • Low Voltage Rescue certification is essential.
  • Additional beneficial certifications include Working at Heights, First Aid/CPR, Forklift License, Elevated Work Platform, and Confined Space training.

Experience and Physical Requirements

  • A minimum of four years of post-trade experience is required.
  • Experience working with a diverse array of power distribution equipment is highly valued.
  • Candidates must be medically fit to safely perform physical duties such as carrying moderate to heavy loads and navigating potentially cramped or uneven workspaces.

Security and Eligibility

  • Employment requires obtaining and maintaining the necessary security clearance (NV1, with intent for Top-Secret Positive Vetting for Australian roles or TS/SCI for US roles) and medical clearance.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old, fluent in English, and either Australian or US citizens.

Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Requirements

  • Employees are responsible for performing tasks safely, adhering to environmental, health, and safety protocols as outlined in the JDFPG Handbook.
  • They must report unsafe acts or conditions promptly to supervisors or EHS managers.
  • Workers have the right and responsibility to stop work immediately if unsafe conditions are present.
