Job description
Role Overview
Amentum is recruiting a Diver III to aid the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) mission located at Andros Island in the Bahamas. AUTEC functions as a significant test and training facility under the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport. The role involves conducting strictly limited dives without decompression to depths not exceeding 100 feet using open circuit SCUBA along with related diving apparatus to carry out tasks such as retrieval, inspection, repair, installation, and removal of devices on U.S. Navy marine vessels and installations. Candidates must be U.S. citizens to qualify for a Secret U.S. Government Clearance.
Key Duties
- Manage and operate diving air systems following OSHA Diving Air Standards.
- Maintain and use all diving gear, including tanks, regulators, masks, and fins, supporting diving tasks.
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes adhering to OSHA and NAVFAC protocols.
- Drive tractor-trailer vehicles conforming to NAVSEA standards.
- Oversee underwater camera and video equipment handling and maintenance.
- Operate dive boats along with necessary support machinery.
- Handle, transport, and recover ordnance and targets safely.
- Undertake additional assigned responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of four years experience in military or OSHA commercial air diving, or a related professional diving domain.
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent certification.
- Certification from Association of Diving Contractors International or a comparable military diving certification.
- Ability to obtain NAVFAC forklift and overhead crane operator certification, plus Tractor Trailer operation certification within six months after hiring.
- Capability to qualify as an Ordnance Team Member within six months of employment.
- Willingness to live in a remote location with limited medical facilities.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and passport.
- Eligibility to secure and retain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance is mandatory; U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with ship husbandry and replacing transducers.
- Training in lift bag and underwater rigging techniques.
- Qualification in maintenance, repair, and rebuild of Aqualung first and second stages.
