G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services invites applications for a full-time Electrician position located in Milton Keynes, MK5 6AJ. The role is permanent and involves a 40-hour workweek. The salary offered is £40,000 annually plus a call out allowance. About G4S Oakhill Secure Training Centre
This centre cares for children aged between 12 and 18 who have been remanded or sentenced to detention. The children often present with vulnerabilities and complex emotional and social needs, requiring the facility to uphold high social care and service standards. The centre's environment supports a secure and stable setting for personal growth and behavioural change, aiming to promote healing from trauma and foster positive identities. The centre works closely with families and community organisations to facilitate effective resettlement and transition of the children it serves.
Role Responsibilities
- Conduct planned and reactive electrical maintenance to maintain safety and quality standards across the facility.
- Operate within established maintenance procedures to ensure effective and safe asset management.
- Address breakdowns and damages promptly and safely.
- Document detailed maintenance reports and technical procedures related to building upkeep.
- Support training and development of maintenance and technical team members.
- Perform inspections, repairs, and maintenance on heating, water, ventilation, electrical, mechanical, and security systems.
- Diagnose faults in mechanical and electrical systems and implement corrective measures.
- Follow operational manuals and detailed technical drawings for routine and emergency maintenance.
- Develop and update maintenance procedures, risk assessments, and technical documentation as necessary.
- Collaborate with multi-skilled maintenance staff to promote cross-skilling and teamwork.
- Participate in emergency on-call rotations and provide coverage during staff absences.
- Assist with project maintenance and improvements aimed at operational effectiveness, adhering to relevant regulations and standards.
Candidate Profile
Candidates must have a proven track record as a qualified Electrician, possessing at minimum a Level 3 NVQ or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering. Flexibility, adaptability, strong organisational and communication skills are essential due to the dynamic work environment.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary of £40,000 with additional call out allowances: £100 for standby, £85 for call out, and £20 per hour for any hours exceeding four during a call.
