Electrical Estimator

Overview

The Electrical Estimator will play a key role in producing thorough cost evaluations for significant building upgrades and new equipment construction projects.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive cost estimates for major building renovations and new equipment build projects.
• Accurately evaluate expenses for materials, labor, and equipment from proposals, plans, and specifications, including project completion details.
• Prepare requests for quotations to obtain competitive bids from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Create standardized and dependable project costing templates by unit, division, or type.
• Coordinate cost benchmarking throughout the project bidding process across regions.
• Implement standardized price grids and gather extensive pricing data related to construction, services, and equipment.
• Provide consistent data, training, and support to project managers for their estimation tasks and verify certain project estimates.
• Review and challenge the actual market value of change orders in collaboration with project managers and vendors.
• Offer interactive assistance for all bid and proposal activities.
• Work jointly with the Lead Estimator and Projects Team to calculate project costs and overheads for each estimate.
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of the estimation process, tools, and key project estimates.
• Take part in handover meetings with the Project Management team following project awards.
• Maintain estimating software databases and tools effectively.

Knowledge and Skills

• Experience in estimating electrical construction projects is advantageous.
• Familiarity with construction job sites is a plus.
• Skilled in using estimating software and MS Excel.
• Experience with Trimble software is considered beneficial.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential.
• Strong client orientation, proactive approach, and goal-driven mindset.
• Highly organized with analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Meticulous attention to accuracy, quality, and detail.
• Understanding of Canadian codes and standards relevant to construction.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, in-office position based in Uxbridge, Ontario. The hourly salary range is $30.48 to $38.10, determined by the successful candidate’s qualifications such as experience, education, and performance relevant to this role.
