We are seeking a knowledgeable Trade Quality Advisor to oversee and enhance the technical standards of maintenance services under the Te Mahi Ngātahi contract. Reporting to the Trade Quality Manager, you will collaborate with BGIS operational teams, quality departments, trade partners, subcontractors, suppliers, and Kāinga Ora to ensure maintenance jobs conform to quality benchmarks, business assurance criteria, management documentation, and accurate Schedule of Rates coding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site quality assurance inspections to support responsive and planned maintenance initiatives.
  • Ensure maintenance tasks comply with Kāinga Ora standards, relevant business documents, assurance protocols, and Schedule of Rates coding expectations.
  • Analyze data from Corrective Action Requests to identify trends related to over-scoping, under-scoping, and trade performance shortcomings.
  • Assist in educating and managing Corrective Action Requests to achieve resolution.
  • Aid in maintaining a skilled and well-resourced subcontractor network.
  • Facilitate subcontractor onboarding through document collection, compliance auditing, and system access management.
  • Establish and maintain constructive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
  • Address subcontractor queries by providing practical solutions or escalating issues appropriately.
  • Investigate quality-related service recovery incidents and follow through on corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators, supporting data preparation and delivery of operational insights.
  • Encourage subcontractor adherence to health and safety protocols and legal requirements.
  • Track and ensure current certifications, documentation, and training credentials are maintained.
  • Support subcontractors in utilizing BGIS technology platforms, including live reporting tools.
  • Keep employees, tradespersons, and subcontractors updated on reference materials, specifications, and regulatory changes.
  • Assist with induction processes for new hires and respond to management training requests.
  • Prepare weekly progress reports for trade and compliance teams.
  • Contribute to stakeholder communications such as the bi-monthly newsletter.
  • Travel regionally, including overnight stays, to support onsite quality assurance activities and regional delivery teams.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of three years’ hands-on experience in a comparable role.
  • Strong organizational and administrative capabilities with close attention to detail.
  • Experience engaging with external stakeholders, suppliers, or subcontractors, ideally in trade, maintenance, facilities management, or service delivery sectors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building effective relationships across diverse groups.
  • Capability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines within a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and business information systems.
  • Solid business understanding and practical problem-solving orientation.
  • Adaptability to operate efficiently amid ambiguity, operational changes, and competing demands.
  • Willingness and capability to undertake regular regional travel, including overnight stays.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Formal qualification or substantial experience in quality management, building or facility maintenance, construction, or related trades.
  • Familiarity with the trade services encompassed by BGIS’s offerings.
  • Experience conducting quality assurance inspections or compliance assessments.
  • Background supporting health and safety requirements in operational or trade settings.
  • Prior experience aiding operational, maintenance, or project delivery teams.
  • Knowledge of Schedule of Rates coding or comparable contract pricing and coding systems.
  • Experience in supporting subcontractor performance, skill development, or onboarding processes.
  • Understanding of corrective action workflows and quality-related service recovery.

Why Work with BGIS?

  • Experience a varied and interactive role combining site visits, stakeholder interaction, problem-solving, and process improvements.
  • Participate in the growth and capability-building of subcontractors and internal operational teams.
  • Work within a collaborative culture emphasizing integrity, accountability, innovation, and ongoing enhancement.
  • Access learning opportunities in facilities management, building maintenance, and technical service delivery.
