Role Purpose
We invite applications for an experienced Trade Quality Advisor to oversee the technical quality of maintenance operations under the Te Mahi Ngātahi contract. Reporting to the Trade Quality Manager, you will collaborate with BGIS operational and quality teams, trade partners, subcontractors, suppliers, and Kāinga Ora, ensuring maintenance activities comply with specified quality standards, business assurance protocols, management documentation, and Schedule of Rates coding requirements.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site quality assurance inspections supporting both responsive and scheduled maintenance programs.
- Ensure maintenance conforms to Kāinga Ora standards, business assurance measures, and Schedule of Rates codes.
- Analyze Corrective Action Request data to detect quality issues, including over-scoping, under-scoping, and trade-related defects.
- Provide support for education, management, and resolution of Corrective Action Requests.
- Assist in sustaining a well-resourced and competent subcontractor network.
- Manage subcontractor onboarding processes including documentation verification, compliance checks, and system access facilitation.
- Develop and nurture positive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
- Address subcontractor inquiries with practical advice or escalate when necessary.
- Investigate quality-related service recovery cases and monitor corrective action adherence to prevent recurrence.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators, preparing data insights to support operational activities.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with health and safety standards and legislative obligations.
- Track certifications, documentation, and training updates for subcontractors.
- Support subcontractors in utilizing BGIS technology platforms for live reporting and other purposes.
- Keep employees, trades, and subcontractors updated on relevant reference materials, specifications, and regulatory developments.
- Assist with onboarding new staff and respond to training requests.
- Prepare weekly trade and compliance progress reports.
- Contribute to stakeholder communications including bi-monthly newsletters.
- Travel regionally, including overnight stays, to support on-site quality assurance and regional delivery teams.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years' practical experience in a related role.
- Excellent administrative and coordination capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience collaborating with external stakeholders such as suppliers or subcontractors within trade, maintenance, facilities management, or related service delivery sectors.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to cultivate productive working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Efficiently manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office and other business systems.
- Sound understanding of business with practical problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to navigate ambiguity, operational shifts, and competing priorities effectively.
- Willingness and capacity to undertake frequent regional travel, including overnight trips.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant qualifications or hands-on experience in quality management, building, facility maintenance, construction, or trade.
- Familiarity with trade sectors within BGIS's service scope.
- Experience conducting quality assurance inspections or compliance monitoring.
- Understanding of health and safety requirements in operational or trade contexts.
- Previous involvement supporting operational, maintenance, or project delivery teams.
- Knowledge of Schedule of Rates coding schemes or equivalent contract pricing frameworks.
- Experience in managing subcontractor performance, capability development, or onboarding procedures.
- Insight into corrective action workflows and handling quality-related service recovery.
