Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive electrical cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and time assessments.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other related documentation to prepare detailed cost projections.
  • Assess electrical systems and products to recommend cost-effective, reliable, and safe solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors to refine job cost evaluations.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, new products, and current material and labor pricing.
  • Perform risk assessments and uphold electrical safety standards throughout project phases.
  • Provide technical advice and support to project teams when necessary.
  • Continuously monitor and compare actual project expenditures against estimates, identifying causes of variances.
  • Participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and client consultations as required.

Candidate Qualifications

  • At least three years’ experience in electrical estimating or a related role within construction.
  • Ability to proficiently interpret electrical blueprints and schematics.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, products, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent mathematical skills for accurate estimation preparation.
  • Experience with project management and estimating software.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities, capable of building lasting relationships with clients and suppliers.
  • Competency in handling multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar discipline preferred.
  • Professional certifications in electrical estimating or related specialties are advantageous.
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and precise.
