Electrical Engineer - Construction Supervision

Overview

WSP is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the Construction Supervision team for a significant infrastructure development project at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), Saudi Arabia. This role involves overseeing electrical works related to roads, utilities, power distribution, street lighting, and telecom infrastructure, ensuring all activities meet project specifications, quality standards, and applicable industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise electrical infrastructure construction to ensure adherence to approved designs, specifications, and contractual obligations.
• Examine contractor submissions including shop drawings, method statements, and material approvals for compliance.
• Oversee the installation processes for medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) power distribution systems, street lighting, telecom infrastructure, and other electrical works.
• Track construction progress, offering technical guidance and support to contractors and site personnel.
• Supervise testing, commissioning, energization, and handover processes of electrical systems.
• Review inspection documents and uphold quality throughout the project execution phases.
• Coordinate effectively with utility bodies, contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
• Identify and address technical challenges, non-conformances, and construction issues with suitable corrective measures.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality management protocols.
• Assist the Resident Engineer with project planning, reporting, risk assessment, and monitoring progress.
• Participate in project meetings, providing expert technical input on electrical matters.
• Prepare and review technical documentation including reports and progress updates to maintain efficient communication and record-keeping.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least 10 years of experience in construction supervision, focused on infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in MV/LV power distribution, street lighting, electrical utilities, and telecom systems.
• Background working with engineering consultants on supervising construction projects is essential.
• Comprehensive knowledge of international electrical codes, standards, and best industry practices.
• Proven track record in testing and commissioning electrical infrastructure.
• Capability to review contractor deliverables and troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and coordination abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant engineering applications.
• Experience working in Saudi Arabia and on large infrastructure projects is preferred.
• Professional certifications and registrations will be considered advantageous.
• Fluency in English is mandatory; Arabic language skills would be beneficial.
